Day 1

Pick up in Tangier

When you arrive in Tangier, you will be welcomed by a professional English-speaking driver from Authentic Morocco Tours. He will help you with your bags and ensure a smooth drive to your Tangier accommodation.

In the afternoon, enjoy a fascinating introductory tour of Tangier, including the ancient medina, and learn about the city’s unique 20th-century history. Your Authentic Morocco tours guide will lead you to significant places, offering an educational and satisfying adventure.

Day 2

Tangier to Chefchaouen

After breakfast in Tangier, we will make our way to the charming city of Chefchaouen, located in the middle of the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen is famous for its bright blue walls and many narrow paths that create beautiful scenery.

On our way to Chefchaouen, we’ll stop in Tétouan, a popular tourist destination in northern Morocco. Tétouan, located along the Martil Valley, is one of Morocco’s main ports on the Mediterranean Sea, just a few miles south of Gibraltar.

Spend the night in Chefchaoun.

Day 3

Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis & Meknes

We’ll leave after breakfast for the medieval Roman remains of Volubilis. You’ll start by exploring the 2000-year-old ruins decorated in mosaics from the 3rd century BC. We head back to Meknes for lunch.

After lunch, your guide will take you on a tour to visit Meknes’s best attractions such as the majestic Bab Mansour gate, the most magnificent gates in all Moroccan imperial cities, decorated with Moroccan Zellij and inscriptions on the top surface.

You will also tour the historic center of Meknes Medina, el-Hedim square, a vast square right in front of Bab El-Mansour gate. It’s an adorable spot to sit and watch musical dances, snake charmers. After a long day exploring Meknes, we drive to Fes. Bed and breakfast are included in your Riad.

Day 4

Fes guided, walking tour with local guide

Today, our local guide will lead us on a walking tour of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual capital and oldest city. Our guide will make guarantee that we visit cultural and historical attractions such as the renowned Al Karaouine Mosque and University, one of Africa’s largest mosques and probably the world’s oldest university. This mosque can accommodate up to 20,000 people for prayer.

You can visit Medersa Bou Inania, the finest of Fes’ theological colleges, which was recently restored and the results are stunning.

Shortly after lunch in a local restaurant, we explore the Tanneries, among the city’s most popular attractions where leather is made we walk to the Royal Palace gate. You’ll take a walk through the Jewish neighborhood “the Mellah” and stop by the pottery cooperative.

You will have free time in the afternoon to explore medieval Fes and mingle with the people. Bed and breakfast are included in your Riad.

Day 5

Ifrane – Azrou – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Erfoud

After breakfast, we will pack up and drive south to the magnificent Sahara desert. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains and its charming Berber villages. Our stop will be in Ifrane town, an elegant and modern small city, with red-roofed houses, and beautiful hoods.

We will go deep into the Atlas Mountains to Azrou, a Berber town with breathtaking landscapes of cedar and pine trees. You will get to watch and feed Barbary Macaque Monkeys in Cedar Forest, Morocco’s largest forest. We will stop for lunch in Midelt.

We keep driving on to the Ziz Valley, one of several oases showing Morocco’s desert-like views. We stop for breathtaking views on our way. When you arrive in Merzouga, you will be greeted with a drink of mint tea before checking into your Riad.

Day 6

Erfoud to the Sahara Desert Merzouga

Enjoy some free time in Erfoud before departing for the town of Merzouga in the morning. We drive to Rissani, a significant place where the Alaouite Dynasty’s ancestors came from. We’ll stop along our trip to explore the ruins of Ksar Abbar, a 17th-century Kasbah that bears witness to Morocco’s rich history.

Our adventure continues to Khamlia, a village famous for its Jazz and Gnawa music traditions. We’ll stop for a delicious lunch and a few hours in a restaurant in the middle of the dunes.

We go on a 1 hour camel ride to see the stunning sunset over Erg Chebbi’s golden dunes. The day ends with our arrival at the camp, where we will spend the night.

Day 7

Driving to Dades Valley via Rissani and Todra Gorge

Get up early and climb the dunes to witness the rising sun over golden the Sahara desert. After breakfast at the campsite, we will and head toward Dades Valley.

Our first stop will be Rissani, the ancestral home of Morocco’s current ruling royal family. You’ll visit a traditional souk in the city center, which is divided into many sections: dates, vegetables, spices, animals, cloth, and craft. Next, we will continue our drive through green Palmeries and Berber villages to the Todra Gorge. We’ll get to explore the gorge and cool off in the refreshing waters of the Todra River.

After lunch, we’ll drive to the Dades Valley where we’ll see incredible sand castles and stunning stone formations referred to as “monkey toes.” Your hotel will provide overnight accommodations with a view of the beautiful, lush Dades valley. Dinner, bed, and breakfast are all included.

Day 8

Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – High Atlas – Marrakech

We will leave the Dades Valley after breakfast and drive to Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. We’ll drive the Thousand Kasbahs route, where you will shoot some of the best images of the tour. You can stop in Kalaat Mgouna, “the Rose City,” and buy rose items like rosewater, rose perfume, lotion, or various other homemade goods that will make the clothes smell lovely.

We continue our journey of discovery by driving through isolated Berber villages to Ouarzazate, known as “the Hollywood of Africa” because of its magnificent surroundings, which drew many world-class film makers. You can visit the Atlas Film Studio, which is the world’s largest film studio. It featured international films such as Gladiator, Mummy, and Game of Thrones.

Then we’ll drive 15 miles to the UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This site was built in the early 18th century by a Berber chieftain named T-hami El Glaoui.

When your guided tour of the Kasbah is over, we will have lunch and then continue to Marrakech across the 7,415ft high Tizi-n-tichka Pass in the Atlas Mountains. We will arrive at your Marrakech accommodation at 4-5 p.m. You can finish your day in jamaa El-fna square and enjoy the evening activities. Bed and breakfast are included in your stay.

Day 9

Marrakech tour with a local guide

After breakfast, your local guide will take you on a private tour of Marrakech’s most significant monuments, including the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque. Its 225-foot magnificent minaret and can be observed from almost every part of the city. You will also explore wonderful palaces, including the 19th century palace of El Bahia that exhibits Andalusian and Moorish architecture. It includes a trapezoidal garden, a large tiled courtyard, and several antique gems placed inside.

You will also explore the famous Saadian Tombs, which were built in the 16th century by the Saadian Sultan, Ahmed el Mansour. It features magnificent ceilings, wood carvings, exotic marble statues, and brilliant mosaic.

Next, we will visit the Koranic School. Medersa Ben Youssef, biggest Medersa in North Africa. This theological institution originally housed around 900 students for religious studies. It was constructed in the 16th century. It has gorgeous structures due to its Moroccan design, Moorish archways, rectangular courtyard, and exceptional mosaics.

In the afternoon, we will walk the Djemaa El-Fna, Marrakech’s main square and enjoy Snake charmers playing with hissing cobras, henna tattoo artists decorating hands of passers-by, musicians play, and dances. And finally head back to Riad for dinner.

Day 10

Departure

Your driver drops you off in the airport of your choice (Marrakech or Casablanca) any time you are ready. And our tour filled with endless memories of Morocco ends here.
